Just in from Tokyo. It was a great show, but it is late and I've gotta work in the morning, so here is just a preview.

Lots more to follow.

OK, a bit more of a taste. Hey, I just got home and am going to work in 20 minutes and I took almost 500 photos!!! Some non-paphs, so I guess I'm violating this forum.

Tons more stuff, literally. I decided to shoot with no flash and instead shot at ISO 1000 - not too bad for web viewing.

Nice! Thanks for posting photos! Were these 2 photos from the Kasaharas' display? Do you know if this variegated Sedirea is more expensive than other variegated Nagoran, since it has a variety name? Usually, Seed Engei sells these listed as just Nagoran shima and they go for around $200.

Tracy, honestly I wasn't paying attention to exactly who's display it was. That side of the show had about 8 displays of just Japanese orchids - lots of Dendrobium moniliforme and Cymbidium goeringii in flower, plus a few Calanthe hybrids, and even a handful of Neos with flowers.

As for the Sedirea, it was part of the individually judged plants in the variegated plant section. I didn't catch who grew it. I've seen lots of the variegated S. japonica around various shows, some with more variegation than others. At this show they were fetching between ¥5000-¥10000 per depending on the amount of variegation, but prices were definitely on the high side. I've seen them for around ¥5000 with very nice variegation at nurseries now and then. Not sure that these are Japanese in origin though. Seed Engei (and lots of other Japanese orchid vendors) are getting many plants from Korea these days where they are mass produced. Quality of such plants is variable unfortunately.

Can't wait for more!! Definitely need to get one of those free tissue pack before going in to wipe off the drools! :p
