Two Paph rothschildianums

Excitedly waiting for 2 roths to bloom - the first under my care to spike, both first bloom after getting them a few years ago. First is ‘New Horizon’ x ‘Raptor’ - looks like I may have 3-4 blooms. The second is ‘Rex’ x ‘Mt Millais’ - from what I was able to gather - from a batch of seedlings the grower got 25 yrs ago.

The grower said it was from a batch of seedlings she got from OZ in 1998, one of the slower growing ones left.

I got 'World Cup ' x 'Raptor' in bud now so would be interesting to compare to your 'NH' x 'Raptor '!

I believe the slow growing. I’ve seen them sit and neither lose nor gain a leaf for years. Well done on you for bringing it around!

High winter light? Oyster shell every 2-3 months? KelPak? Repot annually?

Here they are - now in their first bloom. On the left is Rex x MM w/ 3 blooms, and on the right is NH x Raptor, which while it has 4 blooms - has a less saturated and lighter color. Both seem to have shorter inflorescences in more compact plants than other roths I’ve seen - I wonder if that’s cultural. 2nd photo is with WBW/JB.

Rex x Mt Millais was Z2135, would be interesting to know what was Z2519, but it could not be Rex x Mt Millais for certain. Terry kept the Mt Millais only a couple years before selling it..

The Rex x MM is really nice. Xavier is correct about the cross number, however, in that the tag does have an inconsistency between the cross # and the parents listed. It is a really good one though.

Since the topic here is roths, is anyone familiar with the sib cross ‘#65‘ x Mont Millais? I have one in spike now, which came from Hilo.
