Putting this out there for the experts. Late last year, I acquired some Orchid Zone refugee plants. They’d been through bad thrips damage and neglect and were very cheap, I basically paid for their shipping. Pictured here is P. philippinense; when it arrived, it was potted in bark that that seemed to have a lot of weird black sand in it. It had a postbloomed growth with three big leaves and a new growth off the side. It began to decline immediately. I unpotted and found knotty black roots. Repotted into new open bark mix. The new growth swiftly rotted off, showing a white fungal ring around its base. The postbloomed growth lost two of its three leaves; they turned dark brown and just went. I figured the plant was just a goner but I have kept watering it and...it’s basically looked like this for over 6 months. Just this leaf. No changes for better or worse. I’m afraid to unpot and check it now so I’m wondering if anyone can tell me what they think is happening? Is it stabilizing? Is there root growth, do you think? Or else how is this one leaf managing to keep going for so long? Thank you.
