    Live sphagnum moss for paphs

Live sphagnum produces a low pH that fungi and bacteria don´t like, it is antibiotic. But never forget to change your sphagnum at least after 2 years. It will compact and rot at the bottom and than the roots will "suffocate".

Exhibition of the German Orchid Society (D.O.G.) in Berlin

Nothing special: Paph. niveum, Paph. thaianum, Onc. pumilum D. limpidum anf the Trisella would be nice but they like it cold. Impossible for me.

    Peloric Robert Jameson x lowii

Perhaps this effect it related to the temperature? I got a Phal last year at which the flowers on 2 stems were perloric but on the 3rd one regular. This year all glowers were peloric.

Exhibition of the German Orchid Society (D.O.G.) in Berlin

Here you can find some pictures of the current exhibition. I only picked up a few pictures of more than 1000 plants. There were too many people there und the light was bad (raining day), so I had to use flash for all pictures.

Paphiopedilum spicerianum - a closer look

Yes that´s why I bought this camera. It´s compact and very leightweight: only 770g (body with standard zoom lens and bag). Good for hiking.

Paphiopedilum spicerianum - a closer look

I´m using a Panasonic Lumix GF-1 (micro-four-third) with the standard zoom lens 14-45 mm and the macro is the LEICA DG Macro-Elmarit 45 mm.

    Spiranthes

Looks like you found a very unusual and interesting new species of Spiranthes in the last picture. :rollhappy: Maybe a Spiranthes chickinensis ?

Phal. TC & Gelbliber - blooming sequence in motion

Lol, that´s right! You need a lot of hours for the morphing process.

Phal. TC & Gelbliber - blooming sequence in motion

That was the easiest part: the camera was mounted on a tripod.

I made some pictures of my blooming Phalaenopsis Timothy Christopher x Gelbliber and put them in motion using a morph software. My first work so it´s not perfect. Click here for the video Hope you enjoy it.

    Phalaenopsis violacea var coerulea

Nice joke ;) But you know that there exist less than a handfull of orchids that have blue colored flowers.

    Phalaenopsis violacea var coerulea

It´s the same plant under different light. First picture with shaded light, second with indirect sunlight (at different days). For both I used a gray panel to adjust the colors. Isn´t it amazing how the colors differs depending on the light source?
