    Erwinia preventative spray

For many years I have used Physan or Greenshield as a postwatering treatment at the rate of 1/2 tsp/gallon on phals and paphs with no serious plant injury. At higher conscentrations it may burn the foliage. Do not use to disenfect roots as it will dehydrate the softer plant material. In plants...

    Growing Brachypetalums . . . . .

Bill Fajen in Tampa reputedly grows this group exceptionally well. I have repeatedly, at lenght questioned a friend of mine who regularly buys plants from Bill to determine what he does that the rest of us fail to do in the culture of this challenging group of slippers. These are the nuggets...

    Eric Christenson

I am very saddened to hear of Eric's passing. Not only was he a highly respected taxonomist, but he was a very interesting person. He embraced life with an infinite exuberance. Neem

My mealies drink Neem like it was orange juice. Occasionally, I do manage to drown one that cannot swim. I find much better results with Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer. Use concentrate at 2 Tbl/gallon. Cheap too, $12.95 at K-Mart for 40 OZ of concentrate! I don't think microwaving Neem...

    Paph. Doll's Kobold (I think)

I flowered out a couple of plants from this cross and also found that they were mislabelled. Your flower is much nicer than mine, at least yours provided enough quality for probable ID.

    Any thoughts on fungicides

Use of Subdue fungicide Regarding the use of Subdue fungicide. I do not believe that treating orchids is an approved use. (check the label) My experience is that Subdue is sometimes very effective in treating acute bacterial rot in phals at a concentration of one drop per gallon. Why it worked...
