Very cool. Thanks for all the added info, Ernie. So, you have green Anole's that sometimes turn brown (what I was talking about); but, you also have another invasive species of Anole that is normally brown and they are taking over the neighbourhood.

Yeah, that sums up my rambling. :)

Not a chameleon I think, but cute all the same.
Thanks John. I never heard of anole before or that they could change color. Interesting.
That's because you probably thought chameleon too! I knew it wouldn't take long before someone said that. I actually hesitated in typing chameleon but anole reminds me of a@@hole, so it's chameleon to me!:p

Nope they aren't the same- .....This one is a green anole, Anolis carolinensis, and yes, they certainly do go from brown to green and sometimes yellow .....
As a kid I had a couple, mine didn't bite so they were either these or due to being purchased at a pet shop they might have been more tolerant of people!:p

Cute! I always felt that if I ever got a greenhouse I would buy a couple of geckoes and anoles to release in there.
The problem is keeping them in the GH, winter is no problem for me but summer when it's wide open, bye bye .....
another thought - hopefully I'd not have a bug problem bad enough to need them for pest control! But it would be neat just to have them around.

The problem with keeping these guys is that eventually when you have to spray for scale or mealies(not sure they eat mealies?), the poor suckers are dead. I would think even 'natural' oil sprays etc. would kill them. So, you'd have far less arsenal choices in your armory. I'm sure they eat tons of bugs, but probably not scale!

All we have are the green ones. Never seen a diamond backed one here before. We also have a lot of gecko looking lizards too.

A. caroliniensis is the one that can changes colors, from green to tan to dark brown....but its done by, for lack of a better word, emotion, rather than background. When calm and relaxed, they are green. When stressed or frightened, they are tan. When really stressed, they can be very dark brown.
