Here is the smaller of my two delenatii I got from Matt Gore years ago.

The plant is 1/2 - 2/3 the size of the big one and the flowers are probably 20% smaller. I think its a cutie with pretty foliage and short flower spikes.

Very nice! In basket culture with what medium? Is your other delenatii(s) in basket culture? Do they seem to do better?

It is fragrant but generally weak and for short periods of the day. Like roses.

The media in the basket is the same as for the Phrag wallisii. Sphag/limestone gravel/sand. The bigger one is also in basket culture too.

The big improvement for all my orchids was k lite, but in general plants in baskets are doing better than the ones in pots. I think TDS and watering is easier to manage this way.

very nice flowers.
Rick, the sphag looks quite dry in the photos. Do you let them nearly dry out?

Unlike the phrags I don't throw as much water on the paphs. But the moss is very spongy, so when I stick my finger into the center, they are quite damp even when they look dry on top.

Beautiful plant, Rick! You're using limestone with delenatii? I have a couple young uns going into baskets soon and I was wondering if I should stick with quartz gravel. I guess it may not make much difference either way, feed having more influence on what ions the plant encounters?

Gnathaniel The grade is driveway gravel which is about 1" diameter, and pretty hard. So there is very little effect (other than aeration) produced by the gravel. You could probably use the quartz based gravel to the same effect (or Styrofoam peanuts for that matter). I have used Leca/hydroton balls, but they tend to hold a lot of water, and actually accumulate salt. So I've reduced my use of that media to semihydro systems that I flush frequently.

You might want to check out Bjorn's last thread on his seedling growout results.

It has great form to it Rick. Did it put out both blooming growths while in the basket or before?

The delenatii's were some of the first plants to go in baskets about 2 years ago. So all present blooming growths are definitely since going into the baskets.

Great plant. I agree that baskest are not used as often as they should be in paph. culture.
