Do you have an ultrafine mister to keep them cool during the hot summer?

My friend grows them really well in a cool greenhouse.

Very nice! How do you grow them?

They are grown under lights in the basement in winter, along with Masdies. Nights are cool (10 C I would say) and highs near 20 C. High HR (I try to give them 80 % in winter)

In summer they are grown in a gazebo, in the shade. Summer is quite cool. Nights are usually under 16 C, often near 10 C.

I think they are quite tolerant of warmth for short period of time.

They can last up to 9-10 months and I heard one of the judges complain about the same plant being presented at several shows for judging!

Funny!!! :rollhappy:

I did not know they can last that long... I got 3 small plants a few years ago and they bloom for the first time. I bought the "yellow" one last spring.

No need for fine mister since they are happy outdoor. HR is quite high in summer here. But I use fogger when they are in the basement with the masdies. Temperature can be quite high for a few weeks in spring.

A couple tips on cuthbertsonii.
--they are well loved by snails and slugs so be vigilant.
--Tom Perlite of Golden Gate, a master of D.c. removes the blooms eventually, to allow the plants to rest.
--if you leave the blooms, the dead blooms can fall on the foliage and cause rot. Given that the plants are so small, that leads to a quick demise.
Indeed they are gorgeous!!!
