I haven't fertilized any of my orchids in years, and never noticed a difference. I use unsoftened city water instead of RO though.

Now I don't feel so bad...a friend gave me a Dollgoldi seedling about 7-8 years ago...its still only about 5" in leafspan.....However, a Saint Armel that I bought at that size 3 years ago is now a 3 growth plant that looks like it should be able to bloom......Take care, Eric

I think it is now completely open, and has a spread of 17.8 cm. It's turned more yellow, but I'm not sure it's gonna darken up much more.

While the flower isn't spectacular I think that it bloomed on such a small plant is extraordinary!
