canhii bud watch

Received these last year through Hengduan Biotech. I planted each in different substrate. The budded one on the left was planted in a gritty pebble mix for bonsai and succulents. The other planted in long fiber sphagnum moss and coarse perlite. I think the left handed plant is growing better than the right hand one but is it because of the pebble mix? Will be repotting the right hand plant in the pebble mix.

Dear Friend. I can say my experience, no rung nor canhii does not like the standard paphio mixes and too much organic components in the mix. Here are few pics of mines, you can see the mix, i use the next mix for them: small bark, seramis, small pumice, 1:2:2, so only 1/5 part of mix is organic. You can see they like it. My experience is similar, i suffered with them in standard mixes, they didn t like that...unfortunately both species became very rare in cultivation and in habitat too, i have a sibcross seedpod of canhii for propagation.

Love to know the brand and name of the bonsai mix. I’ve been moving toward more stony mixed for some stuff and liking it.

As small as this plant is it probably could be called blooming size when I received it.

We're getting closer. Looks like the flower is going to sit right on top of the leaves.

And she's open! Hopefully it will grow stronger and produce a taller spike and have better shape.
