This is an interesting species that I like a lot. Two spikes this year!

Cool plant/bloom & photo!
It blooms while it still has leaves!!

Is that unusual? I only have two plants of this type and they always bloom while the leafs are still on the plant.
I've had them go both ways.
Fred Clark gave a presentation for our OC recently & I commented my Frdclkra. After Dark didn't bloom this past year but had it's 1st blooming the year before & grows like crazy. He said more light, don't worry about burning the leaves, they're gonna fall off anyway! :rollhappy:
they have fallen off, not from burning, it's been a bad year for those darn spidermites!

Not unusual for Ctsm. Pileatum... Actually, pretty common for most Catasetum... Mormodes you have two groups, one blooms only after loosing the leaves and the other blooms way before the PBs are fully developed and the leaves are gone...

By the way, a nice 'Oro Verde' ;-) next year give it more light and more water/fertilizer and you can easily get more than 6 flowers per spike... If you do very well, even more tnan 10!
