Those hangers are made from the wire used to train bonsai. They are easy to bend, so that's why I use them.

This variety must contain some D. officinale (Syn. stricklandianum, D. tosaense, D catenatum). True D. moniliforme are shades of pink, purple, white and cream. One's that are yellow or orange are hybrids of some sort. I find that most are quite fragrant, so just pick one's you like. They are pretty easy IMO, just keep them cooler and drier in winter. Pure D. moniliforme can take temperatures down to at least 20 F provided that summers are warm and wet.

It's gorgeous!

What kind of wire do you use for those hangers or is that something you buy pre-made?

I'm also pretty convinced this variety is a hybrid. Plus, that gives me even more reason to get a real D. moniliforme, since technically I don't have one yet. I just have to figure out what variety or varieties I like best.
I will say with Den. moniliforme I'm very picky, but there's a lot of varieties that I've seen sold lately that are

- yellow canes
- chirifu or shima like variegation

And...well they all kind of look the same, even though they have different names. You will see a few that are a bit more unique, though some are not yet registered. There is a meikan out there for Den. moniliforme, like with Neo. falcata, but I'm guessing it's on the Japanese and Korean sides of the internet, and I can't read, write or speak either language so I have no idea where I could find it nor could I read it.

Tenshin Orchids in Taiwan has a Google Sheet of Neos and Den. moniliforme they sell, though you have to reach out to them on Facebook to get exact pictures and quotes. Here's the Google Sheet if anyone would like to take a look:

That's quite a list!

Update on my plant today. BTW, I've heard these are not quite as cold hardy as the wild forms of D. moniliforme. I grow it in the open alongside the pure species. They tend to drop their leaves when left out, but so do most D. moniliforme types. Temperatures never fall below 25 F, and it doesn't stay below freezing for more than a couple days in a row.
