FCC Paph at FVOS show

This wonderful Paph Memoria Rex Van Delden (Lady Isabel x armeniacum) was awarded a FCC of 93 points at the Fraser Valley Orchid Society show this past weekend. It also won best of its class as well as the overall show champion.

A very pretty plant, no doubt. I am not seeing anything that's screaming FCC though. The two flowers have two very different forms, one having down swept petals, the other does not.

A FCC is a bit of a stretch for me as well. To me the flowers look very much alike but held at different angles in the photo to give the appearence of shapes. I must say that is one huge plant!

I'm glad others have questioned the award. When I first saw this, I decided to keep my mouth shut. But maybe the judges saw it in a "different light."
