Another big old hybrid. I got this from Select Orchids this autumn. It is seemingly a very easy and fast grower.

The scale isn't clear from the photo, but it is quite large, measuring 50cm (20") from the top of the flower to the top of the pot.

I'm really enjoying these old/early complex hybrids. If anyone ever has divisions of these more historic crosses available in Europe, kindly let me know!

Beautiful colors on that one!
I didn't expect to like it as much as I do. The color is very rich. I see why it has been propagated for all of these years. I pollinated it with the Lippewunder for fun. I'm more interested in small complex, but why not make a few giants!

Right?! Things like Luppewunder and other complex hybrids with extra large flowers are impressive! I regret for not picking up one large white and one super large green one at Dresden show earlier this year, but at the time I was not gonna buy more plants for the time being.
I still have plenty of time to collect. I don't have any complex. They were very common in the USA. Basically every winter, many of the flower shops in NYC were full of them. Talk about fun of buying a bunch and picking out the best ones. Those days are gone but I will collect them again slowly now that I have a better condition to grow those plants.

I'm planning on going to Dresden in March. We will see what kind of trouble I get into!

I remember seeing all of the complex hybrids on 28th street years ago when I would shop the flower market. I thought complex hybrids were horribly vulgar at that time and rolled my eyes at them. And now I seemingly can't get enough of them. Funny how tastes change!
