Hi, I'm "The Orchid Boy" from Nebraska. My favorite orchids are paphiopedilums, especially Paph. sanderianum. I have 2 paphs (soon to be 3) in my tiny but quickly growing collection. I have a delenatii, Magical Venus, and will soon be recieving a sanderianum. I've been on orchid board for a while with the same name. I've been growing orchids for a little under 2 years and I have learned tons but still have much to learn. For the first year I used to spend up to 4 hours on a computer reasearching orchids every night before I went to sleep. I researched every single question that popped into my head. So that's a little about me.

Welcome from Austin, TX! Delenatii and sanderianum are two of my favorite paphs. You're putting together quite a nice collection there!

Hello from Maryland. Good to see new paph growers. Hope you enjoy your paph sanderianum and have alot of patience. I remember onof thfirst pphs I bought was a paph sanderianum, I never lost it but did a dance of growing roots and losing them for a while. It is taking years to recover.

Welcome from Texas. I can only assume you are young with the username you have chosen. It would be so great to be young and know all that I know now to grow these slippers! There was no internet, no forums, no ebay when I started as many here. Take advantage of these kind folks here and learn all you can!
One piece of advise I can start you out with; "Buy mature plants whenever possible" it will save you a lot of headaches in the long run.
Fill out the rest of your profile and you can add Nebraska in the upper right-hand corner of your posts too.

Welcome, The Orchid Boy! I like that you do a lot of research -- it shows curiosity and that you like information. I think the internet is a wonderful resource, and you are lucky (as we all are now) to be able to avail yourself of it as you grow your collection.

Hi, Orchid Boy!
Welcome from San Francisco, too!
Many of us have the same level of exhilaration at doing the research as you do. Goes with the territory - you'll find that people who get hooked on orchids are a curious, often very smart lot. Orchids are so fascinating. We're glad you are here with us.

Welcome Orchid Boy from the best part of the UK. Been keeping orchids for over 40yrs and still cruising the web for information on Phrags,Paphs, Cattleyas and Angraecums and hopefully learning all the time.
Love your small collection and best of luck for the future.

Ed

greetings from upstate ny. actually, researching where you are going to find your next orchid can be an addiction in itself; I spent hours and more searching where to find rare phals (probably was more fun at times looking and finding, and adjusting the growing area, than actually having the plants)
