I was able to successfully bloom
this plant on its first attempt at flowering.
This is last years bloom, but currently
there are three sheaths beginning to
emerge. It usually blooms in July and
shortly after the tips of the dark sheaths
for next years blooms become visible.
Then it just sits and sits all through the fall
and winter until this time of year when it
begins to push up. Patience is indeed a
virtue...................Jerry

No Mike, it's not fully open yet. It does eventually
get that tight ruffling toward the upper
edge of the petals, so characteristic of tigrinum,
which I find particularly lovely, but the spoons
continue to face outward. All in all, I'm pretty
happy with this plant. Jerry

Jerry, I am getting envious of your skills! Are you located on the northern hemisphere, June fits With my experience as blooming season. Have had problems with that species though.....

so nice, very beautiful and please do share more the culture

Bjorn and Eddie, I don't treat this plant any differently
than any of my other paphs....water every 6-7 days
throughout the year...no dry period as a lot of the
literature suggests.....I believe it was Leo that once
told me, although not pertaining to this particular
species,....."it doesn't know, I didn't let it read the
book." Jerry

To be rewarded with a bloom like this would certainly indicate that patience is a virtue, also well rewarded!
Like a quality Cabernet, it has strong and bold colour. Rich and bold vinous dorsal markings, with petals broad, and succulent grape. Mouthwatering and delicious!

Brandon and Ruth............window grown,east exposure,
cool temps (58 degrees evenings/64 degrees days),
warmer in summer (up to 75 degrees daytime), weekly
watering and fertilizing...........Jerry
