I was so looking forward to grow this amazing species! Finally got one last september from Ecuagenera, and I don't regret it, it is already growing very well and blooming. More buds are coming, it seem they are more numerous every day!
I mounted the plant on tree fern slab and put it in a terrarium with 3 misting a day, under T5 HO lights

Erythrone, the plants I got from Ecuagenera always had a little pocket of sphagnum moss covering the roots, and I suppose it is why they survived the import, but you are right when they arrive at the show they are usually looking sad...
I bought a lot of plants from them, generally looking pathetic at first, but I managed to save and grow most into nice plants, especially Masdevallia. Maybe luck ?
The Masdies I got from last fall picked up very quickly, I kept them on the dry side at first until new growths started (couple of weeks). I had some mounted (this one arrived mounted on a bit of tree fern) and others potted in sphagnum.

What temperature range do you grow this one in?

64 nights up to 77 days
Eric, you should try a few Masdies in S/H, they do much better in warmer temps because of cooling effect of the LECA
I grow cold species like this in my apartment (coccinea, veitchiana, etc)

Absolutely my new favorite masdevallia!!! How far away is it from the T5s?

I put my Masd. Aquarius in S/H in a clay pot and I'm still struggling with it. Maybe not enough humidity, too much light, too much warmth, or stress from when I didn't know how to care for it

If you get a chance could you post a picture of the coccinea in s/h. How warm do you keep your apartment in the summer?

15" or so, it is under another plant, so the water runs on the top one and the Masdie stays wet a little longer

Sorry, I don't have a picture showing more of the pot. It is a regular clay pot (actually a ikea pot) I just plugged the bottom hole and drilled 2 holes on the side 1inch above the bottom to create the reservoir. Then I filled 3/4 of it with LECA (hydration) and the top loyer with live sphagnum moss. After some time wild moss grew on the top so I leave it.

One of my favourite species! I'm glad you made the purchase -its beautiful!!
