my $12 malipoense

Well, after 4 months it finally bloomed. The flower has a spread of 10.5 cm. I purchased this in bud off the society table at a show in October.

A really nice malipo! And for 12$!! How far along was the bud when you got it? I heard malipo bud blasts easily with minor changes in environment.

I'm guessing the bud was 2-3 months old when I bought the plant. It can't be too fussy as the temperature in the greenhouse ranges from 59 to 87 degrees F and the humidity drops to as low as 30%. I did make an effort to make sure the medium never completely dried out as the bud developed.
