Have not visited for a while. Have a small collection in Jacksonville, Fla.
Like the phrag best.

Will have to make you a list, have both paphs and phrags. Have a really nice Phrag. schlimii in bloom, 3 differant kovochii crosses -somewhere around 20 Paphs and Phrags. . Need to make the list for myself anyway.

Phrags do fine for me but then I have around 2000 cymbidiums. Are Phrags supposed to be hard to grow in my climate? Nobody told me that yet but they told me I couldnt grow cymbidiums.

This isnt the best my schlimii can look - the flower in the picture is around a month old and starting to curl - it will probably drop off in the next day or two. Maybe i can setup a better picture whenthe next flower opens. http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2038396040025387835RZbHti
Uuuh. I don't think that is schlimii, no yellow staminode. Also, a clone passed off as schlimii and got awarded, is Phrag Cardinale 'Wilcox' and is still floating a round.

Welcome back!!!! @k cymbidiums????? WOW! I cannot even imagine what space these need!! Do you have some pics of your growing area??? Thank you anyway!!

Ok
Here is where the cymbidiums grow -its crowded in there now. Paphs and Phrags grow in a 20 X 50 greenhouse (with a good heater) The cold conditions and almost disaster occoured last night in the shade house. Not sure wheather the flowers on that spike are going to be alright but the plants appear so be ok. http://community.webshots.com/album/569750494bHUmyO

 If this is a small collection, what do you consider medium or large?
That's fabulous! What does one do with 2000 cyms? Is this a business to some degree?
When one thinks of FLA., we forget that the northern parts are hardiness zone 8, which could give lows of 10-20, which could be hard on cyms!

Slipper King,
You might be right - I looked at (Phrag Cardinale 'Wilcox' )in Orchid Wiz and it does look very close. The plant came from the estate of an old friend. I took care of her greenhouse the last years of her life (She was in her 90's) . She was a known orchid author and was an authority on orchids - however the tag was in bad shape. Several judges have looked at the plant at shows and I didnt get any comment about the name being wrong. Will investigat a little more .
