Beautiful!!! Looks like years of perfection there!! Maybe you could sell that black phrag hybrid for 50,000 somebody would probably buy it!!! It looks cool!!

The pics are from Oxaorquidea and the owner ots Abel Huayta. No more info about the black phrag but im going next month there hopefully i can see it live

I bet Pk x Elizabeth Castle or Jason Fischer.

I agree with you on this one. The dark red, almost black pigmentation comes from Phrag. sargentianum, which is in the background of Elizabeth Castle and Jason Fischer. Unfortunately with these kind of hybrids, even though the flower will still be pretty dark when it is fully open, the pigments will get diluted when the flower gets larger, so my guess is when it is fully open it won't look as "Black" any more. With some Paph hybrids (especially vinicolored Maudiae x rothschildianum crosses) the flowers will still appear "Black" even when they are fully open.

But still interesting! And am curious to see what the flower will look like!

Is it possible to know what the black bud is? I'll be very interested to see it when open, if its a Phrag for sure...

My first thought too, was that it was a Paph....but looking at the foliage it does look like a Phragmipedium and looking at the flower bud/spike it looks like a kovachii hybrid..
