Greetings from a decidedly cooler southern hemisphere

This first-flowering Berenice is a strong growing plant, but has made me wait until it had 6 growths to flower. This year it rewarded me with 2 spikes (4 and 3 flowers).

A paler version, but the yellow green is a nice contrast to the spotted purple petals in the sunlight.

Excuse the staking, I thought I would let them arch for once and the smaller spike arched into the larger one.

Nice flower. The leaves are very dark green. Perhaps that explains some of the flowering reluctance.
