Here's the first open bloom of my druryi ('Windy Hill' x self)! I'm likin this fuzzy-shiny little species! I asked in an earlier thread, about how fast they grow from visible sheath to open bloom, so I guess the answer is pretty fast! And I moved it to pretty strong light (almost touching my florescent lights) shortly after getting it, and the spikes are not overly tall. And it didn't seem to skip a beat being repotted in low sheath :)

I hope I can keep the momentum going on growing and blooming this plant! It's doing well now, and I think it's a nice one. Didn't expect to find something like this at our little TOS orchid show! :D

As far as I know:
This is a total first!!!! A druryi with four spikes? Impossible!

Promiss me you will get it judged, when they're all open!?!!

Well, I am really jealous. A very nice form of druryi you have. Mine is dying because of rot. I hope I can get a new one soon without spending a lot of $$!!~~

Pretty cool plant you have. The flower is so green. Is it really green or on the yellow side? Normally druryis turn a stronger yellow as the flower ages.

I love this species! Mine is single growth. Guess I need to move it to higher light conditions. :)

I can take some more pictures - as far as color, *I* personally would call it a yellow flower overall, but it does have a green glow, to the dorsal in particular.

Thanks for all the great compliments, but I should point out that I bought this in Veeeeeery low sheath the weekend of April 1st, so I can't claim to have initiated the spikes, but hey, I repotted it and have kept it well enough not to piss it off into aborting the spikes! :D I think that's a decent accomplishment too! This is the plant's first blooming, so I wonder if maybe it had been grown previously in conditions that were decent enough for vegetative growth, clumping up growths, and more recently moved to more light/less water and all the stored up growths decided to bloom at the same time? Or maybe I just made one heck of a purchase and it naturally likes to clump growths and then bloom like mad!

Oh, and I would say that the flower has been fully open, size and shape wise, for no more than 4 days, so maybe it will get yellower.

View from the top - you can see it's still quite compact for the number of growths. The red tub the plant is sitting on is 10 inches x 12 inches.

But yes, it is a different 'animal' growth-wise than most Paphs. It almost reminds me more of Cattleya type growth, though I'm not really sure how to describe it, and the picture is crummy. My camera wasn't liking the lighting, but I didn't have time to figure out a better set up.
