I´d like to share with you my last flower at home.

This is one of my favourite Barbata species. It grows quite fast but the flower develops veeeery slow. It has taken four and a half months 'till low seath to fully-opened flower (as the previous flowering).

The petals will change during the next days.

A beautiful combination of colours. We used to see them quite often in South Africa, but with each passing year they have become more and more scarce.
It is a long time since I have seen a plant as well grown as yours, well done.

Very pretty! I have one small seedling. It's been difficult to coax it to grow. It seems to really want a well draining medium. The leafspan is also small (about 4inches). I can now see 2 small starts, and hope that they will grow.

Does anyone else have difficulty culturing acmodontum?

Trithor: when I bought this plant (10/2011) I had never seen this species in Spain. Now more and more people are buying P. acmodontum. It seems to have lots of followers suddenly.
It´s a nice species to own.

I have one in bud right know and as you mention, it is taking it's time!

Spaph: last Tuesday I could speak with a confident vendor (and friend as well) about this fact. He had one of his plants flowered too and he told me his plant took about 4 months to develop its flowers so...although I´ve been unable to find this information in bibliography, some of this plants seem to have this "hookerae behavior".

jjkOC: IMO, this plant likes a well draining medium but LOVES water. I grow it in medium fir bark, charcoal, perlite and sphagnum. Grows quite well but I find it a bit dificult to get new roots from it.
I´m looking after the plant of a friend of mine and it tried to flower (unsuccessfully) and now it has been doing nothing for the last 2-3 months. Not dying but not growing (and new growhs either).
Maybe mature plants as mine grow much more easily than young seedlings.

I fine them to be a pain in the butt too. Don't do anything as a seedling.
