Thanks eveyone! This is the plant that I made a small division of and donated it to the ST auction. I forget who got it.
No real special tricks, Jean. I grow it with low to intermediate light and cool to intermediate temperaturs in the summer. I refuse to put on the heaters in my greenhouse in June, July, or August; so, it gets many nights in the middle to high 50'sF during the summer except when we are having extreme heat and the nights are un the upper 60'sF to lower 70'sF. During the daytime, the temps normally get up to about 78*F to 85*F. I let it dry out fairly well inbetween waterings....probably more than I should; but, I also think that the dry stress is why it blooms!
Dido, it is growing in a mix of fine bark and perlite....probably about 50/50.
Rick, yes, your plant should be big enough to bloom....unless the roth parent was one of the older giant clones. However, the fact that it is multigrowth and they are all in the 30cm range tells me that it's already at it's mature size. The leafspan on this plant is around 25 to 30 cm's as well.
Yes, I guess this can now be called a specimen plant. Or, it will be very soon!
Justin, no, I won't be exhibiting this plant. As nice as it is, I think the forward rolling of the petal edges is a big enough fault to prevent it from being awarded. But that doesn't matter to me. I still love it's form and colour and the fact that it actually blooms for me!
Wow  , That's an impressive blooming John !!!! Any special culture tip to bring it to flower ? Jean
