It has been many years since I have flowered this plant. It seems to have picked up in my new greenhouse, possibly because the maximums are a bit warmer. I think this species likes to be grown really warm. The hotter the better.

I agree David. Warmer and I have to grow it dryer as well or I get rot.

Your thinking of Paph druryi. Paphiopedilum exul is endemic to Peninsular Thailand, found on a limestone island on the east side of the Phuket-Krabi Gulf. I have read that it grows on cliffs next to the ocean in direct sunlight. So it like its bright.

Oops! You're right!
I had the picture and information mixed up in my head. lol
The photo I remember is of exul on huge flat rock in the full sun with no cover.
I also remember it is from near sea level and always very warm.

I got the habitat of druryi along with the above info in my memory. Don't know why.
