Paph exul

I became impatient and couldn't wait for the 2nd flower to open fully. These plants are not small. Mine measures 20 inches on average and the growths stand 12 inches high.

It actually has two more buds deep in the leaf axes.

The synsepal doesn't frame the pouch like most exuls? Or is it because it is just opening?

On the side shot you'll see the synsepal wraps completely around the ovary. It always has

Indeed odd, but I have not seen a lot. Might be a natural variation that occurs. Perhaps Werner may comment as he has seen more exuls than I have.

The synsepal starts out "normal " as the flower opens but reflects back at maturity.
