Hey Dot, I held a aluminum foil square under the flowers on the 2nd pic to do away with the shadow the dorsal was making. See how it appears to be a brown smudge now on the upper part of the dorsal?

You are on the right track. Take that piece of aluminum foil, squeeze it into a ball, then flatten it out as smooth as you can and stretch it over a piece of cardboard to make a reflector card. The smushing it up then flattening it should leave it with minute hills and valleys that will break up the light and make it soft.
