The cross of this Lady Isabel is ( stonei '#2' x rothschildianum '#3'). It has a 32 inch leaf span on it's main growth with small start on the way.

The natural spread on the flower is 14 c.m. The dorsal has a n.s. of 5 c.m. and the ventral sepal is slightly smaller, coming in at 4 c.m.

Bob that is a very nice one...definitely keeper material.

Is this the first bloom? It should be even better next time. I'm no judge, but if the petals were a little wider could possibly be award material? Definitely good for ribbon judging at least...Anyone else think so?

Justin, Yes this is a first time bloomer. I picked it up from Ernie last fall. When he sent it, he said you'll be surprised of the size of this one. I see that currently this same cross is being offered on E-bay in bud. Enlighten Orchids may also have them.

WOW! That's a great looking bloom, I have one from Ernie also but it's still small, thanks... Jim.

Wow, Imo that is an excellent cross with a lovely lot of stonei in the dorsal and synsep.!!!! I really like it!!!! Jean

Jim, sorry to hear that your is smaller. Usually the first plants sold are the largest. Give it time and yours will be as good or better than mine.

I think Jim probably got his from us in the yard sale before our move? If that's the case, it was probably a piece that fell off of one of the big boys during repotting?

I really like your Lady Isabel too. Strong color contrast on the dorsal. I also like how the dorsal remains flat --- but cuppy. Ahh, the only downside of the vast majority of Lady Isabels (IMO) is that the dorsal always takes after the stonei parent and hangs over the pouch to much.

Excellent flower overall.

Christian
