Ugh I'm so jealous:drool:

I got back from an out of town and found 4 of 7 of the buds on my phili cooked against the GH wall:mad:

I guess I could self this plant. Hadn't really thought about it. What I'm wondering is this particular clone a collected plant originally. I assume Mr. Alford has had this plant for many, many years. I bought this division from June's and they had 4 divisions all about this same size plus other divisions have been sold on ebay and other ways in years past.
I did find where this plant receive an AM of 85 points in April of 1990!

Anyone out there with anymore history on this plant?

Close Rose, 6 inch air cone pot!
Maybe I could cross this with Rick's plant. He says his blooms out with as much as seven flowers! That could be cool.

Well grown Rick. Kudos! I am fairly certain "Alford's' is a collected clone. This is in my "vague but true" portion of my deteriorating memory. Its been around since the 1970's, and before 1988 collected Paph philippinense could be had for as little as $5 each. So many were coming in from the Philippines there was no incentive for commercial growers to put out the investment in seed propagating this species. All that changed with CITES and the deforestation that has occured in the Philippines.
