First bloom and second bloom. What the heck?

I bought the plant in bloom from a Taiwan grower and liked the teeny flower. Curious what might have made that bloom so small. Stressful travel? Or is it just first bloom weirdness?

The first flower looks like it was kinda messed up do to stress and, looking at the pouch, opened prematurely.
