Got this off of ebay about 2 years ago as a previous bloomed plant.

Real nice Rick. Looks to have a few flowers as well.

This is the one I got. What is the size of the plant? Interested to know how far I have to go.

Also I have read conflicting reports on the differences between this and the normal kolopakingii. Does topperi have more or less flowers than kolopakingii? Bigger or smaller flowers? Lighter or darker flowers? Bigger or smaller leaves?

David

I wish I could put the two together and take another PIC David but the kolo dropped all of its flowers before topperi had 4 open. Short lived flowers on the kolo but that might change after I re-bloom it.
It could all be cultural but the kolo is bigger, NS for the plant(35 inches, topperi at 28) and the flowers were bigger. Also both do or did have 6 flowers this go-a-round. The FCC clone of kolo Ernie holds on his website had 3 spikes with 9-10 flowers each. The topperi flowers are a light green with brown stripes where the kolopakingii flowers were light to dark yellow with brown stripping

Thanks Rick. My topperi is 20 inches across so a little way to go. As yours is an established plant my first flowering seedling may flower a little short of 28 inches. No sign of any new growths yet.

Are the plants with 16 flowers on a spike kolopakingii or topperi?

David

In Madison WI, I saw a topperi in bloom with 14 flowers and a 40+ inch leaf span. Both of your plants have a way to go before they are full grown.

That's so true Leo. Although my kolo is 35 inch NS it's still only a single growth. I'm expecting more flowers as it puts on more fans. The topperi is a 1-1-1 size plant now with 28 inch NS, I don't expect it to get larger (NS) but I do hope for more flowers as it puts on more fans. That's all depends on me living long enough!
