The flower on this blooming is small. It bloomed on a small growth. But usually they are in proportion with the plant.

Nice. I HAD one of these....I don't know why I find venustum very fussy.
I now have 6 clones and none of them are thriving.
Bastards!

Nice! What defines the var pradhanii? I fine they grow very well in OF's mix for me ( very inorganic).

A flask I got from Windy Hill one year ago had about two dozen seedlings.
I made two compots of them. They have been the most vigorous I've ever tried even in my dry warm apartment.
I think if they had higher humidity, better temperature drop at night and cooler winter, they would bloom easily two years out of flask.

In the mean time, I have one venustum ( standard x album) just open.
Nice color but terribly formed. I might post it just for entertainment. lol

So, yeah, what are some distinguishing features that set this variety apart??

What is OF mix??
Or did you mean QF mix? Which is basically equal parts of corse perlite, chunky bark ( medium or power grade I'd say?) and some sand, I think.
It only works well for greenhouse folks as the pot dries out like crazy for indoor people like myself.

Rick, var pradhanii supposed to have more orange in the petals. That is according to Sam Tsui.

Personally, I don't see any difference from a regular venustum. The description tempted me to purchase the division. I was curious on what it would look like.

I would say they are distinctly more orange depending on the clone.
Tom Kalina can you post yours that I bought about 7 years ago? I know you have pretty good records of your line bred clones. It was the most orange I have seen and orange from the time it opened. It is now happy with a grower in Ohio.
