One month on, after sitting in a glass of water for 10 days. The shape still holds.

This grex is so interesting from a breeding perspective. Whitmoor 'Norriton' FCC/AOS, AM/RHS was one of the very early counted tetraploid paphs. Denehurst 'Surprise' AM/AOS-RHS, and the grex as a whole to the best of my knowledge, is counted diploid. Saint Ouen's Bay clearly takes after Whitmoor - its form, gloss, lasting qualities, etc say polyploid to me. It should be a triploid, but both St. Ouen's Bay 'Cerritos' HCC/AOS and 'Ice Dragon' B/CSA have been remarkably good and productive breeders for many nurseries for years. Would be interesting to count them...

Tim, are you sure that Saint Ouens Bay 'Cerritos' is an offspring of Whitemoor 'Norriton'? Maybe Whitemoore 'Ashlands' could be the pollen parent. Or is 'Cerritos' not out of the original breeding of E.E. Young from 1968 and Denehurst is the pollen parent?
I wonder why Saint Ouens Bay 'Cerritos' is such a compact grower but Denehurst 'Surprise' has soo long leaves.

'Ashlands' is a US plant, to the best of my knowledge, and 'Norriton' is a UK plant, so I would assume it was used. The difference in the foliage is another sign that the tetraploid parent is more influential...any of the scenarios you suggest are certainly possible...just an interesting question...

Thanks Tim, it would be interesting to find out more information about the origin of 'Cerritos'.
Anyway, I love it!

Your Saint Ouens Bay looks a lot like the flower of my 'Cerritos',
but the angle of the camera is different. Here is a picture of its actual flowering:
