Paphiopedilum spicerianum

This is the third time flowering and the best one yet.
This time last year, it gave me one flower. The year before, two flowers.

Unfortunately, one guy is facing the back although everyone started out looking at the same direction. There's always a rebel amongst a group.
I've been hoping that it will "fix" itself and turn around, but with the bud about to open, there is no hope.
Four flowers facing me, and one facing away.

The first flower just opened and it smells, well, spicy, in a good way.

I have two hybrids with spicerianum as one parent in fat bud, so I will post them as well as they look very much like spicerianum with out the purple on the dorsal and much larger.
I think I will have them all in bloom together.

For now, just this one preview.

I'm not that hopeful about my plant though because it's already slowing down the growth rate. I'll give it a couple of years to see how it does.

Over 20 flowers must have been some sight to behold!
And real big plant too, which wont be east for me to water at home. lol

My apartment doesn't get cooler than 65 or more like 68F. So quite warm.
I'm sure with proper conditions, this plant will take off!

I will post once all the buds open. It will be another couple of weeks or so.
Unfortunately one more bud is acting up.
I managed to slightly twist it around so it faces the front. I hope it stays that way. Time will tell. Gosh these crazy ill-behaving buds. lol

That looks great. Too bad you have to use those stakes, though -- they do distract from the flowers.
