In Nov. 2018 I purchased this P. sanderianum x P. canhii by auction at Ebay from Asendorfer Orchideenzucht. Olaf Gruss registered this cross in 2019 as P. x Sandcanh. As I recognized that Elite Orchids sells this cross as P. canhii x P. sanderianum, it might be possible that this is the same.

This first flower is distorted and I hope that following flowers will develop normally. The peduncle is extremely short and enclosed in the fan. Considering the parentage, the leaves are not mottled and comparatively broad, so that before flowering I even thought that P. glaucophyllum might have contributed.

Here is a picture of this cross. Then you can decide if it is the same.

I hope it's ok to express genuine admiration and fascination and celebrate your success while also recoiling at this monstrosity. Yeesh! Of course, to each their own and blooming such an unique plant is surely a triumph. Congratulations!

It's difficult to say from your picture whether the plant shares more characteristics with P. sanderianum or P. canhii. On the other hand we do not know how if a hybrid is more similar to the mother (by sharing mitochondria and plastids that mostly are inherited maternally) or the father plant. For that, individual trials would be necessary. With these unusual crosses quite unlikely.

Certainly it's ok, thank you! I am really fascinated by this plant. It's always such an exiting surprise to see what will emerge from a cross that flowers the first time after all these years of culture.
