People mention all the time to me that they want a division of this plant or that plant and I sincerely know I won't remember in the future. What can be very helpful is to stick a label in the pot(maybe a different color than what you usually use) with the persons e-mail/name etc. as a reminder. It's good to carry some with you to society meetings etc. for this purpose. Do I follow what I preach? No, I'm not organized enough, but it's a great idea!
