a picture width of 600 pixels is about right and 1000 is usually a big photo - think about the screen resolution, usually about 1400 to 1900 pixels wide. If that helps.

Another key is to make the photo about 1 Megabyte.

Thanks both, the flower has now opened and I've started a new thread with 600 X 800 images - they look fine on my screen, I hope that they work for you too...

Thats a pretty good size, though I tend to make them about 50% larger (makes the flower look more impressive)
