Phal schilleriana var purpurea

I like the form and size even coming from a tiny plant (first bloom). The flower is wider than the leaf. But it is mostly white at the front and the purpurea strain is only at the back.

Very nice but for me, it's not schilleriana (var purpurea???) but Phalaenopsis philippinensis.

The more I look at this it's more like a phillipinenses. Hmmmmmm.

Yes Fabrice, I think so too. This is mis labeled by our local grower here.

The grower is very well respected here and he was selling some of these plants that came from the same compot I got mine at the POE. Maybe i should notify him. Although he must have notice this by now. I didnt pay attention until i posted the picture and noticed the yellow sidelobe. Oh well, its not bad at all but i still would like to get a schill

Good question. I have seen one before since the guy who identified this as a species is a friend. But that was a long time ago. The yellow sidelobe and shorter, wider midlobe is difinitely a philippinensis. On the other hand, schilleriana also comes in white.The purple back is questionable on this plant, well maybe we have a philippinensis var purpurea. hahaha

I have Phal. phillipinensis and the back of the flower is a beautiful rosy color. My vote is for phillipinensis .

Looks like Philippinesis.

Regarding the rosy blush on the back of the flower, mine had the same coloring.
