An interesting side note. I also have one of the parents, the Phrag kovachii 'Tesoro Morado', which after I think 4 or 5 years of patient culture is in spike! Tough one to grow, thought more then a few times that I had lost it. The spike is extending so slowly!. I'll post pictures if I can get it to open. Fingers crossed!

I have a couple of Phragmipedium kovachii plants too, and as mentioned, they grow and develop slowly, but I think that one should bare in mind that it comes from higher Mountain slopes in Peru and therefore should be kept cool and a bit shady, I grow mine in a growing medium called "Greenmix" developed by a Danish company, grodan, but now taken over by Hans Christiansen, a very talented and skilled orchid grower/gardener and friend of mine who makes and mix this media, which is a Rockwool based media, I have used it for about 30 years now and it's great, especially for slipper orchids which need different types of pH in water and different fertilizer, it does not break down so often as organic medias and therefore do not need so frequently to be repotted, of course if plants grow vigourusly in it, it of course needs it, but it is a good growing media, if one has problems with pH etc

That is a great cross. I pined over it when it came out but I was sure I’d kill it at that point in my growing, so passed. The best Fritz I’ve seen.
