Ok so growing this plant in the house is a little silly. It's enormous. The first flower hits me at about my elbow with the plant sitting on the floor. I am 5'6". This was a rescue plant from a couple who were closing their greenhouse. It was in pretty bad shape. I don't know when it had been watered last but it was pretty dried up. I repotted and the new growth it put out was 3X the original size growth. I had to tape 2 extra long stakes together to hold the spike up and that still wasn't long enough. The petals have been growing about .5-1 inch a day. My husband is fascinated with it and measures them every morning.

Wow! I think it's cool. A hardware store might have a longer wooden or metal stake. I like the bloom color.

Thanks everyone! The petals are still growing. My husband says they measured 8" this morning. The second bud is developing well so I'm hoping it will hold both flowers at the same time.
