Is this being fair dragging Chuck in? Is chromosome count a presumption on Hakone's part? .. or was he contacted to verify that? Matt Gore lists him as breeder, that's all.

I bought a lot of flasks from Chuck where he labeled parents as 4n, so I assumed they were. So it might actually be good if Chuck addressed the question. Personally I don't care one way or the other, the plants bloomed out beautiful.

Yes, Xavier, but in a way you confirm that no.one really knows whether that plant is 4n or not.

Definitely, so far the only 4n I would trust in the trade are the ones from the Eric Yong, from the time of Don Wimber and Alan Moon. All the others in trade are wild guesses. Orchids Limited has some counted plants as well, I did count some from my own too, but things like those sukhakhulii 4n with massive flowers were 2n...

You care as a breeder, because you really don't want to buy an expensive 3n plant that is as sterile as a mule. I have seen some rothschildianum like that not long ago... Great flowers, but from Trinity 4n AM/RHS with a standard 2n roth...

Chuck got a lot of his plants from Mike Tibbs, supposedly from the Eric Young. They are likely to be 4n, at least for the EYOF plants, even if with Mike you never know what you are getting ( he sold a lot of fake divisions as well knowingly, and was one of the architects of the roth album scam).

Yes you are absolutely correct. I did not buy the plants to use as breeding stock, I bought them to grow out and resell, that is why I said I did not care.

I do assume though that the "Jason Fisher4n" flasks were indeed 4n based on his labeling. I bought because they were said to be 4n and if they had been advertised as 2n I would not have bought them. So I guess at that point I did care. And that also supports your above points.
