Wow! Not a common cross. Yay besseae hybrids!

I think Jerry and Jason Fischer think this may be their best kovachii hybrid. I know that Robert (Drorchid) posted pictures back when this first bloomed for them the first time. It is very large with great color and shape. It really stands out across the greenhouse when I have seen it. My plant from their first cross of this was good size and shape but the colors were a little blotchy but I think this will be better on subsequent bloomington.

The besseae in their first cross was 'Rob's Choice', a tetraploid, so this has an important influence on the flower and plant.

Very nice. I was rather disappointed to see NO kovachii hybrids at our local show today - First show in years and no good Phrag. hybrids - nothing with any of the new species.

The first post of this hybrid by was by R.J. Quene (Drorchid) on Slippertalk on 3/10/14 under the title Phrag Jerry Lee Fischer. The flower had a natural width of 13 cm and Robert said that this cross had kept the kovachii size more than other second generation kovachii crosses. Hopefully the link to the post shows below.
