My first Pleione! I just got the bulbs last fall, so I still don't know how to grow this thing. But this could be addictive...

When am I supposed to start watering? After the flower drops? It was kept completely dry after I potted them up a couple month ago, but I sprayed them with a little bit of water last week.

Well, a few of those photos are just getting a little too personal :rollhappy:

As for watering, I don't see why you shouldn't start now. If a plant is in growth, it should be watered. The problem with these guys is overwatering at the beginning of the season, but once they get going, I'd start.

Beautiful colors and close ups!
When potting up the ones eric sent me I looked up several culture sites. Pretty much they said mist gently when flowers are coming up to prevent complete dessication of the old tuber. They say the new roots don't start until after the flower is done and the new leaf is getting larger

This can get tricky if you plant a handful of tubers and some flower and some go directly to leaf production

Interesting; the ones I got all had new growths with root starts, so I started watering immediately. Sometimes this dry period thing is confusing. I have catasetums and habenarias that are supposed to have dry periods but they are growing and getting watered.

I got it from random eBay, but Thimble Farms (Canada) has it listed. It is not clear if theirs are P. chunii or P. aurita, though. It is a bit costly for the US, but they seem to have lots of cool plants.

Interesting, Eric. All of mine seem to extend the shoots at first.
