interesting topic and very different opinions. I would have only one comment to the problem - why don't you use transparent pot? they are not (much) more expensive and fit perfectly also to paphis (not only phalaenopsis). in this case it would be easier to find out the condition of roots and decide what to do.

Unfortunately, I didn't have any transparent pots of the right size, since they have a tendency to "disappear" quickly due to a bunch of Phals with too much roots for their own good. I prioritize the Phals when it comes to the transparent pots after all. :)

we pay...and double it for Paph. growers.

Yup, I don't understand why I try to convince some people that Paphs are gorgeous, but I must admit it's funny to try to teach my co-workers how to say "Paphiopedilum". I had no idea one word could give people so much problems! :rollhappy:
