That's a very nice schlimii.

@Eric.
You know I don't know much about Phragmipediums :wink:, but isn't Phrag. schlimii 'Wilcox' a Phrag. Cardinale?

Rob

NYEric, schlimii 'Wilcox' is Cardinale, not Sedenii. Sedenii has vestigial horns on either side of the pouch. Cardinale does not. The extra dose of schlimii (when Sedenii is crossed again with schlimii), gets rid of the vestigial horns that are evident on Sedenii and which come from the longifolium parent. As a grandparent of Cardinale, longifolium does not contribute any trace of horns on the side rims of the pouch. The rounded rim of the schlimii pouch is dominant in Cardinale. Phrag. schlimii 'Wilcox' is very famous for being mislabelled and for being awarded with the incorrect name. Because of it's history and the fact that it is known by both names, the name should be written like this: Phrag. Cardinale (aka schlimii) 'Wilcox'.

Thank you for the information John. I've forgotten which
vendor I got the 'Wilcox' from...either Glen at PR or
Tom at Fox Valley. The other schlimii is 'Marcia' from one
or the other. I'm quite happy with both divisions and will
enjoy any differences between the two. Both are VERY
healthy, clean divisions with great roots.
