Can't help you with that, but I did get a chance to see it in person and IT IS MAGNIFICENT! (but you already knew that!)

I know what it did :D and so does John now ....I'll wait until he posts it though. It surpassed all expectations!!!! Well done my friend!:clap::clap:

Thanks guys!

WooHoo!

I just heard from Wendy that she heard it did very well! It got Best Plant in Show and a CCM/AOS of 84 points and an AM/AOS of 80 points! Also, I'm presuming that it got Best of the Cypripedium Alliance in order to qualify for Best Plant in Show. Can anyone confirm that? Thanks! I haven't heard if it got anything in the Specimen class.

I'll take photos tomorrow in the show hall and then again at home in natural light on Monday. So, I'll post photos on Monday evening.

BTW: Here's the link to my original thread on this plant.

It would have had to be Best Cyp Alliance to be considered for Best in Show. All the 'Best Of's' are compared to each other to determine which is 'Best in Show'. Freakin' awesome! By the way I have another email out to find out if it was judged in Best Specimen. Will let you know if I find out before you do.

Fantsastic news John. Congratulations. So did you enter the plant or has someone bought it and entered it themselves?

David

Actually, it's not a iron clad rule that it MUST have won Best Paph.; but, that is the usual way things work.

I once won Best Plant in Show with a Brassia Rex 'Sakata'; but, it got a second in it's class! However, at the end of judging, when all the judges from the other classes joined with the Oncidium alliance judges to consider their options for Best Plant in Show, they dissagreed with the judges of the Oncidium alliance so much so that they overrulled them and made my plant Best Plant in Show because they felt that it should've won Best of the Oncidium alliance....and therefore, it would've autiomatically been in the running for Best Plant in Show. So, unusual upsets do happen, which is why I'm waiting to confirm exactly what this Paph won.

David, I ended up selling the plant to a friend in California. But, what he preferred to do was buy a half ownership and have me continue to grow it! So, I REALLY got lucky there. I get to continue to enjoy it now and I got to pay some bills. Eventually, when it is repotted, the co-owner will get half the plant.

A win-win. So you still get to claim the award. Given what has occurred, I'll bet you are glad you get to keep at last part of it.

Congratulations, you get too enjoy the awards. You get to enjoy the plant and you get to enjoy the money.

So it isn't a win-win situation. But a win-win-win situation. :D
