This is a very rare native orchid in New Jersey. I knew of a few spots where this could be in the pine barrens, but in the last few years either the weather changed or prevented flowering or people moving canoes from the batsto river to the road (or photographers) trampled the plants

Nice Charles. Your pics remind me so much of my days botanizing with my dad in as a kid. It is great to see this species thriving in the state.



Maybe someday I will l have kids I can drag around to all of these orchid places. By the time I was into natives my father had Alzheimer’s and I did take him to a few places but couldn’t go anywhere it would be too involved in getting in and out
