    Paph Ooii anyone?

Rick, the plants in your photo look good. The ones I saw in the booth on setup day were stressed and yellowish.

    Paph Ooii anyone?

Hard to imagine anything hotter than it was at Redland yesterday. I saw the Paph. ooii seedlings - for about a minute. There were only a few during setup on Thursday and by Friday morning those had all been sold.

    paph.philippinense var leavigatum 'Red Ruby'

Wow. That is nothing short of spectacular. I can't believe I almost didn't open the thread.

    jackii x malipoense

And as a result, I wonder - will we start seeing a new generation of awarded "Paph. malipoense";) with characteristics exceeding those of all previously awarded flowers?

'Greenery Yallery' hybrids in flower now

Paph. Anja certainly makes her mark! The resemblance this flower bears to world-famous Paph. Lippewunder is not surprising since both hybrids share Paph. Anja as a parent. I would really like to see how others from this grex turned out. And more every day! Welcome to Slippertalk, Ian.

Paph Luther Pass 'Indestructible' glamour shots

Agree with everyone else - the color, shape and substance are all remarkable.

    Phal stuartiana

The flowers and foliage of this plant look very much like a batch I got from Ching Hua at Redland last year. They had a different lot in 2011 and I was hoping to get more of those, but the ones they had in 2012 look just like this one.

    Paph Lefty Kei 'Corky' AM/AOS

Rick - Corky & Jo lived in Sacramento and got several AOS awards over the years. One of their favorite varietal names was 'Corky'. I know there are lots of divisions of Paph. Freckles 'Corky', AM/AOS distributed across many collections.

    Paph Lefty Kei 'Corky' AM/AOS

Great plant, Rick. Those petals remind me of those corkscrew-shaped patio ornaments that twist when the wind blows. In fact the petals are so distracting, one almost overlooks the beautiful color in the rest of the flower. I know I'm showing my age, but maybe there are some other...

    FCC moquettianum

I'm sorry - I wasn't commenting on the merit of the award. I'm not sure the award has even been published yet. My intent was to answer your original question and offering my own thoughts as to why it may have been difficult to locate any previous FCC's awarded to this species.

    FCC moquettianum

Remember that this species hasn't always been known by the standalone name, Paph. moquetteanum. Some were awarded early on as Paph. chamberlainianum, and several of these have been awarded as Paph. glaucophyllum var. moquetteanum. In 2009, June Simpson showed a plant in Orlando that got 90...

    A new growth!

Always an exciting development. The Subject line led me to assume you had just obtained a new device to facilitate additional air movement.

    What's happened to Ernie?

What a shame we don't see Eric from NY anywhere in the photo! :poke:

    What's happened to Ernie?

As Ross & Hadley can verify, last time I saw Ernie he had just loaded up on BBQ at the International Slipper Orchid Symposium in November. I hope those mosquitos didn't carry him off.

How can we have forgotten this 30th anniversary?

Oh lordy, I feel old. I think that was the day Doritaenopsis and Doritis, et al imploded into Phalaenopsis. No. Wait. That came later. Wasn't it when the ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network) officially adopted TCP/IP, thus allowing Al Gore to create the internet?

Do You Recognize This Venerable Old Yellow Complex?

Paph. Gaymaid 'The Princess', AM/AOS I said I wouldn't drag this out very long. Labskaus came very close, just one generation off. This is Paph. Gaymaid 'The Princess', AM/AOS. I got this one and its sibling, Paph. Gaymaid 'Tranquility', AM/AOS at the same time from Merritt Huntington of...

Do You Recognize This Venerable Old Yellow Complex?

This one's a youngster compared with Paph. Betty Bracey, which was registered in 1956. But Paph. Betty Bracey and our mystery paph do both contain Paph. Gwen Hannen in the ancestry!

Do You Recognize This Venerable Old Yellow Complex?

Normally I'm not a big fan of these guessing games, but this flower has such a rich history that I thought I'd see if anyone recognized it - (Besides Tim and Theresa, and I suspect maybe Ross, of course!) If you are a fan of the wonderful old complex hybrids, it should be pretty easy to guess...

Oh my. That's incredible. Is the fragrance as powerful as the standard form?

    Looking for Phal. lowii

Might that be Bill Fajen? Excellent grower, and he had some outstanding Phal. lowii a short while back.
