    Wanted WANTED: Paphiopedilum Startler Glace

Some are just expensive because people have more money than sense. Plants aren't worth anything but what people are willing to pay.... I'm not sure most breeders would actually be able to charge enough for their flasks to justify the cost of a $10,000 stud, but I've seen (well, heard of) plants...

    Ludisia discolor

There are different color forms of Ludisia discolor, but also a bunch of hybrids with other species now. So not sure how well labeled your plants are.

    Paphiopedilum purpuratum is my faaaaaaavorite!

Send me a message (I can't send you one for some reason). I bought all of Sam's flasks that were in the lab and Christmas miracles sometimes happen. :)

    Paphiopedilum purpuratum is my faaaaaaavorite!

Hmmm... I didn't realize he was working on albino purpuratum (isn't that an oxymoron?), but that explains the plant I have in bud that I thought was mislabeled. Time will tell

    Ludisia discolor

I have a cutting in the top of a freshwater shrimp tank (about half of the stem submerged) and it is going kind of bonkers with roots...

    Phrag kovachii first bloom seedling

Patience... And some oyster shell. Mine took forever to bloom the first time, now I have two or three clones that are pretty reliable. Just heard from the lab that my selfing had good germination, not sure how long it takes to get flasks back but I'll have more. :) Maybe I'll live long...

    Paph villosum group

Yes. I meant to put x self in the initial post... I'll fix it. I presume (but am not sure) that the selfing was made by Chuck Acker and Lee bought some flasks. I don't see many villosum so I don't have a good mental image of what good ones look like, but they seem quite large and I like the...

    Paph villosum group

Kind of cheating, they arrived from Hawaii in bud or bloom. 10 5" pots, most have at least two flowers. They were in the box for a week since I didn't know they were coming. Not bad. Tag says Paph. villosum "Chuck's Warrior" AM/AOS x self

charlesworthii album x little trouble (Little Philo's Trouble)

I like the pink one best! So cute.

plant import permits freak me out

This is why accurate plant tags matter... :) I definitely have Jack Tonkin, I don't think I've ever seen the other one.

plant import permits freak me out

Is that a specific jack Tonkin clone? At one point I had half a dozen divisions of the same Jack Tonkin (I can't remember the clonal name if it has one) and probably still have one or two... Inherited it from a Michigan grower who is long since deceased.

    Air-cone pot topic drift

I used to order his bundle of plants almost every month. And thought the three pollinia thing was pretty silly... I still have some of those plants. Dr Toot was his dog, I believe. I think I might still have a Dr. Toot (kolopakingii x something parvi).

    These are thrips, aren't they.

Start with 70 percent isopropyl alcohol. Or dish soap (a squirt in a quart of water). I am pretty aggressive with biochemistry but i think it is safer to stick to those... Just keep up on it. If it isn't working in a few months switch to something else I would recommend against anything...

Potting up Paph. thaianum seedlings from flask ... Medium recommendations

I've had decent luck with just sphagnum moss lately.

    Help a serial under-fertilizer

It is supposed to be the same as MSU magic. I get it from Eric at river valley orchids.

    Help a serial under-fertilizer

Time release fertilizer... I put a 4 month fertilizer on late spring and then go back to my usual 'fertilize every time I water". That's in quotes because my fertilizer injector doesn't work very well (sometimes I don't think it works at all).

    Shin-Yi Prince

It was one Sam Tsui had marked as a keeper, but honestly the pictures I looked up were better. Anchored my little exhibit pretty well though. Will have to see if it blooms again next year or takes two. That will determine if it is worth the space. :)

    Shin-Yi Prince

PEOY x sanderianum. A lot easier to grow than straight sanderianum.

    Besseae x Anthony Omeis

Looks bigger than it is (maybe 4-5cm). A Chuck cross (besseae flavum x Anthony Omeis). I have a couple dozen in bloom or spike, I like this one best.
