Right now it's about 10 deg F and I've had to move even my cold loving dendrobiums away from my double paned windows!
At least my interior grow room plants ( lots of paphs, phrags & warm dends) are happy.
While I love tropical species and hybrids, I am an equal fan of native terrestrial species. I have found and photographed roughly 1/3 of Ontario's native orchids and cant wait till spring to look for more.
Tropical plants are my salvation as I am suffering from spinal arthritis and disc disease, and as such once common field trips are now few and far between.
There are several active orchid clubs in S. Ontario and an excellent central association referred to as SOOS (Southern Ontario Orchid Society). SOOS is made up of commercial and hobby growers, collectors, photographers and conservationists.
I really like the opportunity to navigate through Slippertalk threads to get ideas, solve cultural challenges, satisfy my growing curiosity ( sorry I couldn't help slipping in the pun).
Thanks for putting together such a great resource.
